What Writizzy 2 does

The web deserves more independent publishing.

Writizzy is a blog and newsletter platform for people who want to own what they write. Your posts live on your own domain, go out as a newsletter, and can be paid for through your own Stripe account. We take 0% commission, and you can leave with everything, anytime.

We launched Writizzy here in January. Since then we've shipped more than 200 features, and given the whole product a new identity. Here's what changed.

A new look, inside and out

Writizzy has a new brand: warm paper, ink, and a single terracotta dot. The dashboard was redesigned around one question: what does a writer need to see when they open it? Your readers this week, your latest subscribers, the comments waiting for you, and a box to start writing. Nothing else.

An editor built for writing, and for writing together

- Version history. Every save is kept. Compare two versions word by word and restore any of them.

- Notes on drafts. Highlight a passage and leave a note, then reply in a thread. It works for a team reviewing a draft, or just for you.

- No more lost edits. If someone else has the post open, you'll see it, and Writizzy won't let one save quietly overwrite the other.

- Scheduling. Pick a date, and the post, the newsletter and the social posts all go out together.

- New blocks. Polls readers can vote on from the email, a table of contents, image links, GitHub gists, and level 4 headings.

A newsletter that helps you grow

- Recommendations. Recommend other Writizzy newsletters you like. When readers subscribe to yours, they're offered a few more, and other writers can recommend you back.

- Related posts. Every article now suggests similar reads, from your blog and from others.

- Welcome email. Greet every new subscriber with your own message.

- Delivery you can see. See which readers stopped receiving your emails and why, and bring back the ones who couldn't be reached.

Publish everywhere, own it all

- Cross-posting. Share each post to Mastodon, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Discord or dev.to, automatically or after you approve it.

- The open network. Your articles can live on atproto through standard.site, so they show up in Bluesky and in any app that reads the format. Replies on Bluesky appear as the discussion under your post.

- Multilingual blogs. Link translated versions of a post across your blogs. Hreflang tags and a language switcher for readers are handled for you.

- Your blog on yourdomain.com/blog. Besides a custom domain or subdomain, Writizzy can now serve your blog under a sub-folder of your existing site.

- A custom home page (beta). Build your home page like any other page, with columns, cards and a block that shows your latest posts.

Paid subscriptions, without the cut

Readers pay you through your own Stripe account. On €1,000 a month from paid readers, Substack keeps €100. We keep nothing.

- Bring your paying readers with you. Coming from Substack or Ghost? Reconnect your Stripe account and your existing paid subscribers come along.

- Promo codes. Create codes for your readers, and see which ones convert.

Moving in is easy

Import from Substack, Medium, Ghost or WordPress. Old URLs redirect to the new ones automatically. You can even import a whole Medium publication, with each post signed by the author who wrote it.

For teams

Invite authors and editors, set up a review step before anything goes live, and sign in through your company's directory (Okta, Entra, Google Workspace) on the Teams plan.

Work on your blog from your AI assistant

Writizzy now has an MCP server. Connect Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client, and ask it how your last post did, draft the next one, or check your SEO, without opening the dashboard.

Everything else, built in

Built-in analytics with no third-party trackers, an SEO audit that checks every post when you publish, 12 themes with your own colors and fonts, comments with moderation, series, a public API, Zapier and Make, RSS, and full export.

Pricing

- Free: your blog, unlimited posts and a newsletter for up to 100 subscribers. No credit card needed.

- Starter, €9/month: your own domain and the tools for a growing blog.

- Premium and Teams: priced by audience size, never by what you earn.

Paid plans charge a flat fee. Writizzy never takes a percentage of what your readers pay you.

Start your blog at writizzy.com.

"Medium without lock-in, on your own site" is the sentence that made me click.Do you handle the boring part too — RSS, sitemap, OG tags — or is that still onthe user? That's the thing that usually breaks when people move off Substack.

Thomas Sanlis's avatar

We handle everything 😊!

Blogging platforms keep resurfacing because distribution is harder than publishing, not because writing tools are missing. The real friction has always been getting consistent reach without depending on someone else’s algorithm or email graph.

Most of these “no lock-in” pitches only matter if the platform can also solve discoverability, otherwise it just shifts you from one empty audience surface to another.

Tried this for a bit and the writing experience feels surprisingly clean and distraction-free compared to most newsletter tools.

Hey Jen, thank you for the kind words! But why 3/5 then, what didn't you like?

Writizzy gave me the final push to write my first blog post. The interface is incredibly intuitive, focusing only on the essentials without any clutter. I especially love the font, it perfectly captures that "indie hacker" vibe.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to focus on writing!

This can be a game changer for bloggers. It totally removes the overwhelming side of current tools to focus on writing, while being at a great price! Can't wait to see where it goes!

Let me tell you a story

10 months ago, with my cofounder Hugo, we had a crazy idea

When everyone was betting on AI and launching SaaS to automate blogs and content, we thought

"Hey, why don't we just build a writing platform for people, not AI?"

It was a bad business idea, we already knew that.

But we both have 2 unfair advantages: time and passion.

#Writizzy is our attempt to build the blogging platform we'd always wanted. Simple. Independent. Built for humans.

We had a lot of doubts the past few months, but recently, a few big companies signed up for our team plans, and we reached 1,000 created blog!!

The future is bright for Writizzy ☀️

We just reached 900 blogs on #Writizzy 😱

And it's just the beginning, the growth has been exponential the past few weeks 👀

Did you know? With #Writizzy you can host your blog at yourdomain.com/blog 😎

Sounds like a detail. It's not. Google treats a subdomain as a separate site, so every article you write builds authority somewhere else. A subdirectory feeds your main domain instead.

Most blogging platforms only hand you a subdomain because it's easier to set up. We support both!!

    No AI on #Writizzy 🙅🏻

Most blogging platforms are racing in the same direction right now.

MCPs. Publishing APIs. AI integrations. One-click "write this post for me" buttons. Agents that draft, schedule, and publish on your behalf while you sleep.

    The result?

More and more of what you read on the internet isn't written by a human anymore.

It's generated, optimized, and published at a scale no person could match.

And if the trend continues (and it will), the internet becomes a place where AIs write for other AIs to read.

Humans, somewhere in the middle, scrolling past content that was never really meant for them.

We don't want that on Writizzy.

We want that when you open a Writizzy blog, you can think: a human wrote this, this is real.

So here's our commitment: Writizzy will never have AI integrations.

No MCP. No publishing API. No "generate a post" button. No agents hooked up to your account.

If you publish on Writizzy, it's because you sat down and wrote it.

Your words, your rhythm, your mistakes, your voice.

    That's the whole point.

Long live personal human blogs 💪🏻
